Jewelry Care

  • To avoid tangling and scratching, store your jewelry separately in a pouch or box when not in use.
  • Remove your jewelry before engaging in exercise or heavy lifting to prevent loss or damage.
  • Keep your jewelry away from chemicals such as chlorine, perfumes, hairsprays, body lotions, and cleaners. These substances can dull the metal and damage gemstones, especially pearls.

For Fine Jewelry

18 karat gold jewelry is unlikely to tarnish, although the color may deepen slightly over time. At Obellery, we offer gold polishing cloths for purchase to help maintain your jewelry's shine.

Residue from soap, hand cream, dirt, and natural oils can build up on diamonds, making them appear dull. Restore their sparkle by gently brushing with warm soapy water using a soft toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a lint-free cloth.

For Silver and Gold-Plated Jewelry

Silver and gold-plated jewelry can tarnish over time. To restore their shine, use a silver polishing cloth or dip the pieces in a jewelry cleaner for about 10 seconds. Rinse with water and dry with a lint-free cloth.

Keep in mind that gold-plating will naturally wear off over time and can be reapplied if desired. We offer 18K yellow, rose, and white gold for plating. Jewelry with pearls or organic gemstones, such as opal, cannot be plated. Plating costs vary by item size and start at HKD$480.

Cleaning Tips for Tarnished Gold-Plated Silver Jewelry with Pearls:

  • Soak a cotton bud in silver cleaner dip and clean the tarnished areas. Be sure to avoid contact with the pearls.
  • Rinse the jewelry thoroughly with water and dry it with a lint-free cloth. If the pearls accidentally come into contact with the cleaning liquid, rinse them immediately with water.
